The twelfth international horticultural and floristry trade fair
Green World 2011, which focuses on professional contract opportunities,
was held on September 2nd–3rd, 2011, in the spaces of the BVV Trade
Fairs Brno which were new for the fair. Instead of Hall C, which was
unable to contain the fair any more, we were welcomed in Pavilion A.
Without columns, with abundance of light and space, the pavilion was
accepted with mixed feelings both by exhibitors and visitors.
Nevertheless, the majority opinion spoke about a higher level of the
fair brought about by the pavilion, whose construction resembling a
greenhouse seems the best place within the BVV Trade Fairs Brno
facilities for an organization of trade fair Green World. Pavilion A
with its extraordinarily interesting architecture was built as a
reinforced-concrete skeleton with a walled skin and a glass roof. Its
two exhibition halls, Hall A1 and Hall A2 are placed in two separate
parts of the pavilion. They are interconnected by a corridor adjoining
a big restaurant and conference rooms. The halls also house side
galleries. The hall height is 19 m in the middle. The Green World 2011
spanned over 6000 m2 and it was visited by 2560 people. There were 107
exhibiting companies and partners with an exhibition area of 2272 m2.
The exhibitors mainly consisted of representatives of Czech companies
but there were also Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Germany, Austria, Italy,
Belgium and Holland.
The trade fair was officially opened on September 2, 2011 at 9.30
with these people present: Ing. Jana Šimečková, the Director of the
Landscape Gardening Association; Senator Jan Hajda; Ing. Jan Veleba,
the President of the Agrarian Chamber; Ing. Robert Kotzian, Ph.D., the
1st deputy of the City of Brno Mayor; Ing. Jiří Kuliš, the Managing
Director of BVV Trade Fairs Brno; Jiří Chládek, the President of the
Organization of Horticultural Associations and the Chairman of the
Association of Gardening Centres; Ing. Jiří Valtera from the Florists’
and Floral Designers’ Association of the Czech Republic; Ing. Jiří
Veleba, the Chairman of the Nursery Association of the CR; and
Vlastimil Pasič, the President of the Association for Organizing
Horticultural Exhibitions.

Another successful competition at the Green World 2011 was the
Bridal Bouquet 2012. The competition is open to all professional floral
designers and to students of gardening, landscape and horticultural
vocational schools; the committee consists of professionals. The aim of
the competition is to create most creative bridal bouquet or decoration
which will be innovative by its idea, shape and material or colour
composition. The winning bouquet is pronounced the trend-setter for the
following year. The competition includes a show of the competition
bouquets and bridal dresses from salon Naive, which is held within the
magnificent Flower Fashion Show. The winner of this year, Klára
Jordánová (My flowers), obtained a voucher for goods worth 15,000 Czk
from Vonekl s.r.o. and a subscription of journal Floristika (Floristry)
and professional floristry publications from ProfiPress. The audience
voted for a bridal bouquet created by Eva Hrbková (Květiny Rudolf
Hrbek).
Just like last year, we could also see the exposition Christmas
Inspiration 2011. This exposition in Hall A2 was created by leading
Czech floral designers Jaromír Kokeš, Přemysl Hytych, Petr Kopáč and
Marie Bittnerová with Květiny Weinlichová, who presented their ideas on
the given topics: the Christmas tree, the Advent wreath, a Christmas

it was supported by journal Profi Florista and Vonekl wholesale and the
topic was Flowers and Design. Floral designers Hana Kindelmannová
Šebestová, Milan Dopita and Tamás Vígh presented their work here. The
afternoon Flower Fashion Show continued until the evening and the
audience could enjoy a lot: a show of competition bridal bouquets and
bridal dresses from salon Naive, the award ceremony of the Bridal
Bouquet 2012 competition, a show of flower decorations for hats made by
garden centre Marciánová in cooperation with the Hat Club Brno,
awarding ceremony of the Park of the Year 2011 and Garden of the Year
2011, the ceremonial launch of the second calendar created in the trade
fair Green World – “GREEN WORLD 2012” – with photos of models created
by Róbert Bártolenand

The Saturday marathon was supported by Storge s.r.o. and the topic

de Goerde. The end of the day was marked by a presentation of a
Hungarian floral designer Mezoffy Tamás (Szentpéteri Szabolcs) from
Flora Hungaria.
A large force behind the Green World was our main media partner –
journals Zahradnictví (Gardening) and Floristika published by
ProfiPress s.r.o. We can look forward to two special supplements to the
Floristika journal, which were born at the Green World 2011. The first
one is the Christmas Inspiration, which will be published along with
the next issue; the second supplement will be a selection of the bridal
bouquets from the competition. The other media partners were journal
Tvoje svatba & Rodina (Your Wedding & Family), Radio Čas and
last but not least Radio Petrov.
This year’s fair took great pride in its remarkable guests, who,
as we believe, will help emphasize the significance of the trade fair
within the Czech Republic and also at international level. We were
honoured to welcome Mrs. Ellen van de Vrugt, the Counsellor for
Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality of the Embassy of the Kingdom of
the Netherlands, Michal Hašek, the Governor of the South Moravian
Region, and also representatives of the media from Lithuania, Hungary,
Poland, Korea, Slovenia and Ukraine.
Thank you for helping us keep the trade fair growing and that you
are already taking part in the preparations for the next trade fair,
the Green World 2012, which will be held in BVV Trade Fairs Brno,
Pavilion A, on August 31–September 1, 2012.
Special thanks: PROFIPRESS – media partner; Ing. Jana Šimečková -
