FLORALIA, A WORLDWIDE EVENT
|
|
For nine days, Feria Valencia will be dressed up in
flowers thanks to Floralia, a huge multicolour exhibition of flowers and
ornamental plants from Spain and the rest of the world. The superb quality
and beauty of Floralia has won it a reputation as the world’s largest
ornamental plants and flowers show.
|
|
THE BEST OF THE BEST
|
|
The show consists of gardens and other spaces created and
designed specifically for the occasion. This is an unrepeatable opportunity
for producers and distributors of ornamental plants and flowers to present
their most spectacular proposals to trade professionals and general public
alike, and to boost their profile, create an image and display products.

ONCE EVERY FIVE YEARS
|
|
Floralia is an exceptional event held once every five
years. The huge interest it arouses has encouraged the format as a touring
show, and it is held in one of the five European cities who have the
privilege of hosting Floralia (Valencia, Ghent, Nantes, Budapest and Genoa).
|
|
A HISTORY FULL OF SUCCESSES
|
|
The first Floralia took place in Ghent, Belgium, in 1809,
with the active support of the Belgian Royal Family and the bourgeoisie of
the country. Since 1839, the exhibition has been organised every 5 years in
different cities.

FLORALIA AT FERIA VALENCIA
|
|
Floralia was held for the first time at Feria Valencia in
1974. That first exhibition, which had a huge social impact, was visited by
more than one million professionals and members of the public.Other Floralias
were later organised in Valencia: in 1978, 1982, 1986 and 1990. With an
exhibition area in excess of 50,000 square metres, 305 exhibitors and 11,284
trade visitors, the 1990 event confirmed Floralia’s importance as an event
with a wide repercussion not just locally, but in the whole of Spain and also
internationally. On another note, Floralia always brings with it an increase
in exports for that sector, demonstrating its power to inject dynamic energy
into the local economy in Valencia.

AIF, INTERNATIONAL FLORALIAS ASSOCIATION
|
|
AIF is the association grouping the five Floralias holding
an exhibition every five years in one of the member countries. The
association manages the European Floralias Circuit. Only the AIF cities can
host Floralia, making the exhibition a unique and exclusive event.
The five AIF members:

FERIA VALENCIA AND VALENCIA, THE PERFECT SETTING FOR
FLORALIA
|
|
Feria Valencia is now one of Europe’s most important
exhibition centres and a world leader in the trade fair sector.
On the other hand, Valencia is an attractive, lively city with a long-standing
floral tradition, always looking to provide new incentives for its citizens
and for tourists, demonstrating its many cultural, social and economic
attractions. Events like the 2007 America’s Cup and the Pope’s visit, or
emblematic projects including The City of Arts and Sciences, have created a
new Valencia. This is the setting for Floralia, a further boost for the image
of this emerging Mediterranean city.

OTHER ACTIVITIES
|
|
Floralia is more than an exhibition. And that is why it
organises other activities, like the Competition awarding the best entry, or
the FLORALIA 2007 International Congress, an event tackling issues related
with gardening and landscaping.
